Trips

Pick3 Well, what do you know. Triple ones was the latest incarnation of a Pick 3 players dream set.   The winning combination for the Saturday Midday Pick 3 drawing was
1 1 1.  Of course, you can win the same amount of money for matching any combination Straight.  A $1 play pays $600.

What are your numbers tonight?

Where it's at

SMClogo We had another big Show Me Cash winner over the weekend.  A player matched all five numbers Saturday to win the jackpot of $158,064.  The winning ticket was sold at Mobil On The Run on Bishop in Rolla.
Another player matched four white-ball numbers and the Powerball to win $10,000.  The winning ticket was sold at Beer Store & More in Pineville.
The Powerball jackpot rolled and is now an estimated $49 million.  You can buy tickets until 8:59 p.m. Wednesday, but don't delay.  Good luck.

And the winners are...

Cruisin The fourth and final drawing in the "Get Cruisin'" second-chance promotion is now complete.  You can find an unofficial list of the winners here.  We received more than 227,000 entries for this drawing, of which about 77 percent were submitted online.  That ratio has been fairly consistent over the last several promotions.  Overall, more than 685,000 entries were submitted during the course of this promotion.
Congratulations to all the winners, and thanks for participating.  Be watching for a Show Me Cash promotion next month.

Pball_thumb One player matched four white-ball numbers and the Powerball Wednesday night to win $10,000.  The winning ticket was sold at Fastrip on Church Street in Aurora.
The Powerball jackpot for Saturday has climbed to an estimated $38 million.  But don't forget about our Missouri games.  Lotto is an estimated $2.1 million, and the Show Me Cash jackpot tonight is an estimated $112,000.  Good luck.

How will you spend it?

I get to speak with winners on occasion, and I heard a really good idea the other day.  A recent winner of $50,000 on a Scratchers ticket told me how she decided to spend it.  Once they discovered they won, she and her husband sat down and wrote a list.  They made separate columns for different categories of wants (little stuff, big stuff, charities, etc.)  Then they ranked their desires and chose a few items from each column.  That way, they can add up exactly how much they can do without overspending and make sure they get to do the things that are most important to them with the money.  What a sensible way to maximize the opportunity!
Wins don't come around all the time, and whether it's a huge jackpot or just a few thousand dollars (wins of any size are welcome!), it's always good to have a plan.  How will you spend your winnings?

Sharing Stories

You may have noticed that we have a box of shared items along the sidebar.  We use Google Reader to aggregate stories that may be of interest to you.  That includes everything from big wins in other states, to lottery insider news and happenings in related industries.
One of the recent stories to surface was the death of the daughter of Jack Whittaker.  This sad development is another in a long list of tragedies that beset Whittaker after his record setting win in 2002.  The West Virginian became sort of the poster boy of bad luck that follows Lottery wins.  We regret that his woes continue and offer condolences on his loss.
It's important to point out, however, that his problems are not the norm.  Instant, and in his case enormous, wealth can be a burden to some people.  There are stories of winners who have spent their winnings frivolously or lost it all.  On the flip side, the majority of winners go on to enjoy their new wealth, leading happier lives without any problems.  I believe it comes down to the character of the winner.  If you were sensible with your money before the win, you're not likely to suffer ill-effects from a large windfall.
We had the opportunity to meet with some former Missouri Lottery winners recently, and I can attest to the fact that a big win does not always change the person.  One winner famously declared that she still uses coupons.  The old saying goes, "you can take the boy out of the woods, but you can't take the woods out of the boy."

Best Seats in the House

Bestseatsblues Here's a photo of Brian and Steve, a couple of recent winners of a great promotion we're sponsoring in conjunction with Summerfest in Columbia.  Fans who attend the shows can sign up to win an upgrade to the best seats in the house, courtesy of the Missouri Lottery.  Here's what Steve (in the hat) had to say about their night.

We wanted to mingle since we're both single, but the seats were so good, we just stayed there all night.  Thanks Missouri Lottery!

Can't buy you love, but we can offer you the best seats in the house.  The next Summerfest show is the Wallflowers on July 29.  If you are going, visit here to register or sign up at Slumberland Furniture in Columbia.  You get the tickets (they're free!) - we'll work on getting you the best seats in the house.  Good luck.

New poll

As we get more involved with social networking, I would like to know which sites, if any, you frequent.  Do you have a Facebook profile, or My Space?  Do you Tweet?  Obviously, there are a lot more social networking sites than we had space for, so please weigh-in and tell us what you use in the comments below.  Maybe it's none of them - we'd like to hear that, too, and why you eschew online groups.

UPDATE:  We're getting a lot of "other" answers.  Do you mind sharing which ones?  Comment below.

Where it's at

I hope you had a fantastic holiday weekend.  A couple of Missouri Lottery players sure did.  The Missouri Lottery sold one ticket to match all five Show Me Cash numbers on Thursday, becoming our 46th jackpot winner.  The winning ticket, worth $50,000, was sold at Phillips 66 on Dunn Road in St. Louis.
A player who shops at Schnucks on Manchester Road in Ballwin matched five white-ball numbers in Powerball to win $200,000.  Don't forget, by simply adding the Power Play option to your ticket, you can multiply your winnings.  Players who match five numbers with Power Play automatically win $1 million.  A player from South Carolina was the only winner to earn that distinction last weekend.
The Powerball jackpot for July 8 is $30 million, and don't forget Lotto.  The Missouri Lottery Lotto game features much better odds of winning and has grown to a $2 million jackpot for Wednesday.

Happy 4th of July!

No matter what your plans are this weekend, don't forget your tickets!  The Missouri Lottery has thousands of retailers across the state, so a little fun is never far from your fingertips.  Pick up some Scratchers tickets on the way to the picnic, play your favorite numbers before the fireworks, or enjoy Club Keno and Lucky Dough while cooling down at your favorite watering hole.  We've got games for every occasion.
Above all, be safe and enjoy your holiday.  Happy Birthday, America.

What a weekend for Missouri Lottery players.  The Powerball jackpot was hit in Connecticut, but the game did pay out big prizes in Missouri.  One player matched five white-ball numbers to win $200,000.  The winning ticket was sold at Schnucks on Zumbehl Road in St. Charles.  Another player matched four white-ball numbers and the Powerball to win $10,000.  That winning ticket was purchased at Whiskey Rebellion in Rushville.
A Club Keno player hit it big at American Legion Pony Express Post 359 in St. Joseph.  A ticket worth more than $27,000 was sold there Saturday night.
Live_pick3 And the buzz among Pick 3 players has to be the Triple 5s from Friday night.  We paid out more than $350,000 in prizes, which was 317 percent of sales.  What will be next?  Fours on the Fourth?
Meanwhile, back at the prize pool, Show Me Cash is on the climb.  Tonight's jackpot is an estimated $80,000.  Good luck.

Show Me Cash

SMClogo Show Me Cash was hit on Tuesday night.  A player from Grandview bought a winning ticket worth $55,000 at Lakeview Market & Deli.  That was the 42nd jackpot awarded in this game.  Sadly, one of those jackpots is about to go unclaimed.  See here for more details.
The Show Me Cash jackpot has already rebounded and is an estimated $60,000 for tonight.  Be looking for special promotions involving Show Me Cash in the near future.

Deadline looms

Cruisin The final entry deadline for the "Get Cruisin'" second-chance promotion is July 1.  Your entries must be received no later than 5 p.m on July 1 to be eligible for the grand prize - two new vehicles!  Players can also win a Kawasaki® Jet Ski or $500 cash.  Round up those eligible non-winning tickets and get entered before the summer promotions slips away.  See here for more details.

New poll

There's a new poll question along the sidebar.  What are your plans for the Fourth of July?  Do you plan to celebrate, or are you one of the poor souls who have to work the holiday?  Give me all the juicy details in the comments below, or explain what Independence Day means to you.

Where it's at

What a weekend for winners!  The Powerball jackpot was hit in North Carolina, but the game paid out some big prizes to Missouri players.  Two players matched five white-ball numbers to win $200,000.  The winning tickets were sold at the following locations:

  • Traffic Oil in Shrewsbury
  • Olive-Fee Fee BP in St. Louis

Two other players matched four white-ball numbers and the Powerball to win $10,000.  The first ticket was sold at QuikTrip on NW Wood Chapel in Blue Springs.  The other winner selected Power Play and multiplied the win into $20,000.  That winning ticket was sold at Abel's Quik Shop in New Florence.
On top of all that, we had another big jackpot winner in Show Me Cash.  A ticket sold at Abel's Quik Shop in Mexico matched all five numbers in Show Me Cash to win the 41st jackpot of nearly $100,000.  Congratulations to all the winners!

Happy Father's Day

736 Don't forget everything dear old dad has done for you.  Here's a nice story about the outdoors and memories of fishing with dad on the Conservation blog.
If you need a quick thank-you for your dad, consider picking up a Missouri Lottery Scratchers ticket.  I might suggest the $10 game "$500,000 Cash Spectacular."  Not only will dad have the opportunity to win up to $500,000, a single non-winning ticket is an entry into the "Get Cruisin'" second-chance promotion.  There are still lots of prizes remaining in this game, but chances to enter the summer promotion are winding down.  The final entry deadline to win a "Cruisin' Couples" package of a Chevrolet Silverado® and a Pontiac Solstice® is July 1
There are plenty of other choices as well.  Scratchers tickets cost anywhere from $1 to $20, and feature prizes from $500 to $4 million.
Thanks for your support, and three cheers for dads.
